Today I am going to show you how to format a drive that is FAT32. FAT stands for File Allocation Table and it instructs the computer how to read information off the hard drive. Okay, in order to format a drive that is FAT32 you need to go into my computer and pick the drive that you want to format; now be very careful.
DO NOT format the C drive because if you do that it will wipe everything off the system and you will be out of Windows. What you need to do is go in, in this case we are going to do the removable drive here which is F. You simply select that drive, right click it, go down to the section which is Format and select that.
And in here you have a number of options. You can format the drive in other formats which is FAT NTFS, but what we are going to do here is go to FAT32 which is the full setting. So click FAT32, okay you need not change the allocation unit size, you can give it a label; so I will call this TEST .
It is fine to have Quick Format selected and click start. It does give you a warning telling you that it will erase all of the data on the disc.We are fine with that, so we press OK .
Yeah it now comes out with format complete. This is on your smooth drive of 3 1/2 Kb but if you have a larger hard drive on your computer which may be hundreds of Kb it will take a while. So press OK, close this window, and we go in here now, there is no information in there, it is a completely fresh drive and that can be used now in the computer.
I was just shown you how to format a drive that is FAT32, but do be warned, DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR C DRIVE and other removable discs. And that is how you format drive that is FAT32. .
