Firstly, you have to check your weight and find out if you really need to put on weight and if you do need to, find out the good ways on how to do it so that you don't put on weight in the wrong areas. Enlarge Firstly, you have to check your weight and find out if you really need to put on weight and if you do need to, find out the good ways on how to do it so that you don't put on weight in the wrong areas.

So, today, we'll be talking about how to gain weight for women. Little bit of a tricky subject, really depends on what sort of weight she wants to gain and why. So, you know, kind of address a couple of areas both gaining weight in terms of muscle and gaining weight in terms of kind of body fat.

Most people aren't going to need to gain a lot of weight, so we look at nutrition first. In order to gain weight, you need to be eating the right foods. So, first, we need to be eating high quality protein.

If you're not eating high quality protein, then you're going to end up with muscle wastage or you're not going to be able to build new muscle which won't help you gain weight, and you're going to gain most weight by putting on muscles because muscles weigh three times more than fat does. So in order to, you know, put on the pound muscle is going to be a lot heavier in terms of density than fat is. So, high body protein is really crucial, then a highly nutritious diet.

If you want to put on weight, then your body needs the building blocks to be able to do that. If you're not getting the right nutrition, then your body doesn't have what it needs in order to, you know, increase your body mass, build muscle and add on weight. Obviously, eat more, increase your calorie intake and I mean if you're looking to, if you're finding you're very, very lean and you want to put on a little bit of body fats, feel more comfortable, then obviously increase the fat content of your diet and make sure that's good healthy fats rather than bad fats, sort of avoid saturated fats particularly the ones that are processed and stick to kind of healthy fats from you know, fish form, lean meat sources and from kind of, other oils which are really good for you.

Then we're going to talk a little bit about how you do it exercise-wise. I'd recommend obviously, if you want to put on muscle mass, you've got to do weight training and you want to be lifting heavier weights. Often, traditionally, women tend to do endurance exercise because they want to tone up, so using quite light weights and doing lots of repetitions.

In order to gain weight, you need to do the opposite, you need to be using heavy weights and doing lower repetitions, probably some 6 to 8 as a maximum. And on the exercise, from the cardiovascular point of view, ideally, you'd want to be doing high intensity interval training rather than a long steady duration kind of aerobic exercise. So, if things like, kind of, 30 seconds full intensity sprints followed a 90 seconds rest, repeat that 8 times with a 5-minute warm up and a 5-minute cool down and that's more than enough, more than enough exercise to really get your metabolism going, also help you build muscles, stimulates human growth hormone, so that's going to help you kind of gain weight.

And you want to make sure if you're doing that, you don't need any sugar within at least 2 hours after your exercise. Last point is really then about mindsets, now, particularly about our body image. Why do you want to gain weight? Do you really need to gain weight? Getting ready for your picture of what's exactly your mindset and that around your body, of building a strong positive relationship with your body rather than worrying too much beyond health reasons, and looking and feeling good about how you look.

So, blend those three elements together, about what you eat, high quality nutrition, the right kind of exercise and when you're working on your mindset and relationship with your body, do make sure you have an all-round healthy approach and that you gain weight that you want safely.
