Today I'm going to be giving you some tips and exercises to help you with your fitness. In this video I'm going to tell you how to get a toned stomach. The great thing about toning your stomach is it's only a small area.

So, it doesn't take much work. If you spend 15 to 20 minutes every other day you'll really start to see the benefits within a couple of weeks. The only way to lose fat is to eat less calories than you're burning.

Make sure that you don't go for a quick fix diet, which in the long run may actually lead to weight gain, but instead eat little and often which helps to raise your metabalism which means you'll be burning fat all through the day. Drinking plenty of water is also important. 2 liters at least a day and certainly more if you're exercising.

Your diet should be a healthy mix of carbohydrates, proteins, good fats, plenty of vegetables and moderate amounts of fruit. When it comes to toning your tummy there's plenty you can do. One of the first things that's really important is improving your posture.

When you slouch what happens is your stomach tends to come out and this is the kind of form that it starts to take on. So, you can either really work on holding your shoulders back and holding your stomach in, or you can actually purchase a posture corrector like this. You basically put it on a little bit like a rock sack with both the arms going on your shoulders and then around the waist.

You have a tie which keeps it in place. This should then help your posture and remind you to hold your shoulders back. There are plenty of exercises for toning your stomach which I'll show you in a moment, but one thing you can do throughout the day is to really be conscious of those stomach muscles.

So, tensing the stomach muscles wherever you are whether your standing, sitting, or walking along is going to make a big difference and is going to tone them gradually. To exercise the stomach areas start on your back with your knees bent. You want to lift up so that you can feel the stomach muscles starting to engage and then lift your legs up.

You can either put your arms forward or behind your head, but if you put them behind you head be sure you're not pushing your head forwards. You want to bring your knees in and bring your chest up to the knees. Make sure it's a steady movement and that you keep breathing all the way through.

To tone the sides of your stomach area the obliques again start on your back, lift your legs up, bring your arms to the back of your head, stretch 1 leg out and then tilt so that you're touching the other knee. Now, one of the areas that a lot of people like to tone is the lower stomach area. So, again start on your back, have your legs stretched up in front of you and then lift with your bottom.

Now, you don't want to be pressing down with your hands, so have your palms facing upwards and lift your feet. It's really important that when you've been exercising your stomach muscles that you stretch them at the end. There's a very simple stretch.

You just lie on your front with your hands on either side of your shoulders and lift up. And that's how to get a toned stomach.
