How To Get Great Results Curling Black Hair

Hi, and welcome to the Braiding Lounge Academy. My name's Lauralyn. We're going to be demonstrating some techniques on different hairstyles today on Afro hair and European hair.

Okay, I'm now going to show you an example of how to curl hair with a tong. Here we go. You need to take even sections of hair and wrap it around your tong, as you've just seen me do.

Roll it up towards the scalp. You don't need to roll it all the way up. Keep it on there for about 5 to 7 seconds and then you can begin to unravel the section of hair.

We're rolling the hair into the tong and allowing the tong to roll up the hair shaft, not all the way to the root. For roughly 5 to 7 seconds, and then you can begin to loosen the tong. And there you go, two examples of how to curl hair.

And this is natural hair that has been curled with a tong. And as you can see again, you keep consistent all the way down from the root to the tip. Try not to burn your finger like I did.
