How to get into commercial modelling? Now, I have been a commercial model for over 14 years. When I was trying to break in to the industry, I didn't understand the word commercial. In fact, it brightened me.

When I was 17, I came to London and I traced all the agencies which I am sure lots of girls will still do. I turned up at big modelling agencies like Storm and Model's One and lots of them turned too commercial for us. No, thank you and I left that agency completely deflated and therefore, I'm never going to work as a model in London.

I realised that commercial model is just a different modelling. In fact, commercial models are somebody that's selling a brand. So for instance, I got loaned for selling and therefore, the key thing is about the fun expression.

It's about the twinkling eyes and that's what a commercial model is. Editorial models tend to be more for magazine, catwalk and the big billboards for, say, Burberry and lot's of the big brands like Gucci. They are what, of course, the big model agencies do.

I think being a commercial model is the most exciting area to model in because you tend to make more money, especially if you are at the base of a really good brand. Commercial models also work more than editorial models because there is more work out there for you. You want to be a really successful model, make sure you have got a really strong portfolio and you are with the right agency for you.

There are lots of different agencies, some of the most important commercial agencies now in London used to be a model fan corporate. When I was younger, corporates where the one that were the most important commercial agencies and that meant they will put you up to the face of brands but also to be the face of TV commercials. Commercial models, you make your biggest money on the TV commercials area.

So always ask your agents, can you put me up for things for TV commercials. Every agent will get casting breakdown everyday. Even we do, we get twenty casting breakdowns from casting directors that are looking to cast the next thousands of commercials.

So, just make sure that you are at the right agency for you. Always be nice to your agent and your booker. So you have got the right photos, make sure you have got the right attitude, never be late for auditions or even jobs.

Because you did that once with us, I don't want to work with you again because words travel really fast in this industry. Then you may get sent to South Africa or Germany or to America as lots of places I have been around the world.
