Hi, my name is Renee Barca. I work at IMM Model Agency. I'm going to speak to you about how the modeling industry works.
I'm going to explain to you how to get into fitness modeling. Fitness modeling is a brand new industry. It didn't exist twenty years ago and that's because people weren't really that concerned about their bodies.
Nowadays, fitness is everywhere. And everybody wants to do this sort of modeling. What's great about fitness modeling is your face doesn't have to look in any particular way.
Usually the more normal you look, and the less attractive you are, the more in favor people want to book you because this way, people can relate to you a lot more than if you were absolutely gorgeous. So don't worry if you don't feel you have the right facial look to be a fitness model. It all comes down to your body.
For men, this means they need six packs and pecks. For women, it also means we need a nice six pack and nice muscley legs and arms. In most modeling worlds, they think that models have to be very thin.
In the fitness modeling world, it's the complete opposite. We want someone with muscles. We want somebody that has a lot of tone and definition in their body.
This way, the bigger, the better in the fitness world. For men, the best way to get into fitness modeling is to go to a fitness type agency. They are quite a few agencies out there that specify only in fitness modeling.
And their clients involve a lot of fitness magazines. Obviously to have a fitness type body, you need to train rather hard. You also need to eat lots of protein and not that many carbohydrates to ensure that your body has the right shape.
I've spoken to a couple of my fitness models and asked them what they need to do before a shoot and it's rather interesting. To get the body of a male fitness model, the day before a shoot, you need to make sure you've done quite a lot of exercise. You need to make sure your blood has rushed straight to the muscles, therefore giving it that great definition.
A lot of time the guys eat rather unhealthily to be honest right before a shoot. They only eat lots of protein and no carbohydrates. This results in great definition of the body.
As you can see with one of our fitness models here, he's got a very great defined body. His abs and his pecks are fantastic. He gets his body by training very, very hard.
And obviously, he gets these sort of covers by going to the right agencies. Two most important things to be a male fitness model is to have the right body, and to have the right agency. If you do this, you should be able to be a fitness model. .
