How To Get Kitchen Smells Off Your Hands

Stubborn smells like those of onions, fish or garlic stay with you a long time after a satisfying meal is made. We here at VideoJug will show you three ways in which these odours can be easily minimised, helping you to get kitchen smells off your hands.

Step 1: You will need

  • 4 Table spoons of baking soda
  • 1 lemon
  • some water
  • 1 knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 bowl
  • 1 tea towel
  • 1 stainless steel bar/ egg

Step 2: Use a lemon

Begin by cutting a lemon into small chunks. Put it into a bowl, add a little bit of water and vigorously rub your hands. Now rinse your hands with water and dry them. The citric acids in the lemon will help break down the scents on your hands. It works especially well for fish odours, leaving your hands smelling lemony.

Step 3: Use baking soda

Make a solution of baking soda and water in a bowl. Wash your hands with the paste. The baking soda will absorb the smells from your skin, leaving your hands fresh.

Step 4: Use stainless steel

Rub your hands against stainless steel metal for example, against the kitchen sink. Now wash your hands under cold water. The smell on your hands arises from sulphur compounds, the same ones that make your eyes water when cutting an onion. These compounds will bind to the stainless steel, helping to remove the smells from your hands.
