How To Get Rid Of Black Ants

We're going to talk about black ants or garden ants, and basically what you can do to prevent them from getting in your home or what to do if you get them. So, what you can do, you can use a silicon and you can go along the bottom of the door frame and you can fill that gap all the way along and that will be physical barrier to stop the ants getting in. Moving on to if you've actually got a problem, there are various products on the market that you can use to get rid of them.

You can use sprays. This is an insecticidal spray and what you'd do is you'd follow the instructions and you go along, basically spraying along around the exterior of where you've seen the ants. Always important, always read the label of any product that you're using.

As well as sprays, there are also powders on the market you can use. They look a bit like talcum powder. Again, always read the label.

Little tip: if you're using any sort of insecticidal spray or powder, be ultra-cautious around fish. So if you've got a pond, most of the insecticides in the market will wipe fish out. Another weapon in the arsenal that we have is a device like this.

This is a bait station for ants. What you do is you snap these logs off and that then creates a little opening, and inside this is a bait. It usually comes in like in a form of a gel and the ants will go back in, feed on the gel, bring it back to the nest, share it around and it will poison them.

Again, everything that we use, always has a label, it always tells you what you can do, where you can put it and again, this will give you a longer term approach to the problem because you're not going to get rid of the problem overnight with ants. It can take a few weeks to get control. By then, you can identify where the ants are going, if you can see a little hole they're going down into, get a kettle, pour some water down there and again, you know, it's a very effective method, it will kill them off and you might have to repeat that, you'll have to go back to do that time and time again until you've got control.
