Chest congestion can be caused by allergens, flu or colds. No matter what the cause might be, it is important to know the do-it-yourself remedies.
Today, I'm going to talk about chest congestion. Step one, know what's normal and what's not. Producing a certain amount of mucus is normal because mucus contains immune globulins which can actually trap particles and bacteria from outside and prevent the infection from travelling deep into our lungs.
However, if you think you are producing more than normal, that could be due to one of the couple of reasons you come into contact with an irritant, you have been exposed to smoking or you're coming down with an infection. Step two, things to try at home to relieve chest congestion. Steam inhalation can be a very helpful technique, this can be done by standing in a room or a hot shower is running or placing your face on a bowl of steaming water and covering your head with a tea cloth, all the things to try are applying external heat to the chest and the throat, that can either be through hot towels and massage or rubbing in a vapour rub.
Other techniques could be postural techniques, things like yoga can be a really great way of bringing out some of that congestion. Step three, some herbal remedies can have a benefit. For example, tea is containing cardamom, lemon and honey, ginseng can also help to get some of this congestion out.
I'd also recommend taking vitamin C or at least ensuring that your vitamin C levels through diet are adequate. Step four, when to see your doctor. If you're producing a lot of yellow green phlegm, at that point, you should go and see your doctor and it's likely that you might have an infection and that might need antibiotics.
All the things that they may feel are warranted could be things like inhalers or nebulizers or somebody has chronic lung conditions and simple tablets such as expectorants can also be prescribed to get some of that mucus out. And that's how to get rid of chest congestion. .
