Now, I am going to talk about how to deal with constipation. Constipation is an incredibly common problem in United Kingdom. This is probably due to the amount of fiber we eat.

The average person in UK eats only 8 grams of fiber per day; the recommended amount is more like 12. Fiber is the undigestable plum material that adds bulk to your poo and makes you go to the toilet regularly. Typical sources of fiber include fruit, vegetables, cereals and wholemeal bread.

And it is important you drink plenty of fluid to wash this fiber down with. Constipation is a very personal thing. There isn't a correct amount of times that somebody should go to toilet.

Some people will pass two or three times a day which is normal and some people will pass once or twice a week which is also normal to them. Different people will require different amounts of fiber and different amounts of fluids to make their bowel habit regular. One of the most common problems with constipation is that people aren't drinking enough fluids.

Remember that you should be drinking for about 2 liters of fluids a day. One of the other problems with constipation is eating foods that are high in starch or carbohydrate. Some diets, slimming diets, can cause constipation up to 2 weeks.

Some medications can cause constipation and if you are in medications from a doctor, you should go through the medications and see which of these could be the culprit. The most common medication that causes constipation is things that contain codeine. Co-codramol or plain codeine.

Iron tablets are also a source of constipation. There are some medical problems that can lead constipation, and more commonly, things like irritable bowel syndrome or underactive thyroid or in fact, being old or relatively immobile can cause constipation on its own. One of the common things in pregnancy is constipation but 1 in 5 women will get constipated during pregnancy requiring some sort of supplement to help them pass stools.

When you are treating constipation, it's important to just alter your diet to begin with, drink plenty of fluids. If this doesn't work, speak to a chemist who can recommend some gentle bulk lectins that you can buy over the counter. If the constipation persists longer than 6 weeks, it's important to discuss with your doctor because it could represent an underlying health condition.

That's how I suggest you to deal with constipation. .
