How To Get Rid Of Earwigs
Earwigs are a pesky problem, but don't actually pose significant hazards to people. This video will show you how to keep earwigs out of your home and your life.
We're going to talk a little bit about earwigs. Sometimes, people call us up because they've seen some earwigs around their house. One of the most common places you're going to find them living is among piles of timber like we've got here.
We've got a log pile here. So, the idea is that you don't want earwigs getting into the home, so don't have the logs stacked up right alongside your house. They're not really a pest, as such, visually, they are a pest.
Some people find them a little bit off-putting, the fact that they've got little pinchers on their back, and the name as well, you know, earwig. Years ago, it was thought that earwigs used to crawl into people's ears, and that's how they got the name. But that's just an urban myth; you can sleep easy.
Earwigs are not considered a pest. But like I said, you don't want them getting into your house. Again, take preventative measures - put some silicon if you see any cracks or crevices where they might squeeze through, and mesh covers over the air vents.
In areas like around door frames, cracks and crevices, pipes, just go around with a sealant and make sure you seal any holes that they could potentially crawl through. So if you don't want earwigs getting into your home, don't have piles of logs stored up by the back door. Look for any entry points that there might be around - again, places like air vents, around things like door frames; if they can squeeze through, they'll get into the home.
But rest easy. They're not dangerous. They're not hazardous.
Visually, they're just not very attractive. And that's how to get rid of earwigs. .
