How to get rid of eyebags: Do you ever wonder how you get those eye bags and how to get rid of them? In this video, Dr. Jenny Wakerly explains the causes of getting the eyebags and gives some useful tips on how to avoid getting eyebags, so you don't have to worry about them any more.
Hi, my name is Dr. Jenny Wakerly. I am a GP working in the NHS, and I also specialise in Dermatology.
I also a run a company called 'The Beauty Doctors' specialising in cosmetic treatments and dermatological advice. So, I am here today to talk to you about how to get rid of your eyebags. Now, there are lots of different causes to get eyebags.
One of the most common is the 'morning eyebags' so you get them first in the morning when you wake up, and fluid is reabsorbed as the day goes on. So the causes range from having a late night to having a salty foods the day before or drinking too much fluid the night before, and also working the whole day with your head bend forwards, for example, you've been crouched over the computer. There are hormonal changes, which also can be involved in eyebags and also very rarely, puffy eyes can be caused by a low thyroid, low active thyroid, such as Graves' disease.
In addition, the skin underneath the eyes gets thinner as you get older and that makes the fat pad under the eyes more visible. As you get older, the bone around the eye that forms the eye socket gets larger as well, and again that makes the eye bags more visible. One of the simplest treatments is to just cool the under eye area with some cold water or an eye jell.
There was a company called 'SAS Derma', which do I like to purchase eye cream which is very good that has very good effect on reducing the fluid that builds up from a late night, for example, the night before. Just gently tapping the eye bag area just under here will help when you putting the cream on as well. If the eyebag is because of the ageing process, you can actually fill in that area just underneath the eye bag, because of the loss of skin or bone.
By putting either by a very gentle filler or by using a product called 'Sculpture', just under the cheek area, not in the eye area, and that can have the effect of reducing the appearance of the eyebag itself. Also to prevent the eyebags, if you sleep with your head slightly tilted upwards about six inches and oversee, avoid late nights and drinking too much the night before, too much fluid the night before, doesn't have to be, say, alcohol, and also avoiding salty foods. You can also use some very good anti-ageing creams to thicken out the skin underneath the eyes such as 'SASDerma Retises Eye Cream' or 'DMEA Eye Cream' .
You do need to be careful about the type of eye cream that you use, which is anti-ageing because too much Retinol or Vitamin A can cause theeye back to get worse, because the skin in the area can get too thick.
So I hope this has been useful in trying to reduce your eyebags and thank you very much for listening.
