How To Get Rid Of Lower Back Fat

My name is Nick Mitchell. I'm a personal trainer in London. I own a gym called Ultimate Performance and here in this gym, we train everybody from pop stars ad soap stars to professional athletes and lots and lots of regular people in the art and science of body composition.
Very very very very often, we are asked then here at Ultimate Performance about how do I lose my muffin top, how do I lose my lower back fat, how do I lose my love handle fat. This love handle fat is the biggest issue we see in terms of sex-specific fat problems within our London based practice. The reason for that is very very simple.
People store fat in this muffin-top love handle area because of an excess intake of the wrong type of carbohydrates. There are ways to speed up the loss, specific loss of fat around the love handle area. It's to do the right type of training.
So, it's to do training that will make you, what we call insulin sensitive, in other words, it will make your body process and handle carbohydrates better. The best way to process and handle carbohydrates better is to increase the mass of muscle that you have in your body. There's a place doing this as well, it's not about turning a woman into Conan, it's just about adding a little bit more muscle, there are more insulin receptor sites in the muscle fibre basically.
So, a little bit more muscle will enable your body to deal with carbohydrates better, meaning the carbohydrates that you eat are less likely to be stored as fat on the love handles and then there are supplements as well. The number one supplement that I would advise anybody to use in terms of improving your insulin sensitivity is actually fish oil or omega 3's. These tend to work very very well for blunting the insulin response, so you can eat a normal meal and have a teaspoon of high quality fish oil at the same time or at the end of the meal and this will blunt the spiking blood sugar basically and these strategies can work extremely well.
We regularly say in 6 weeks, we could have somebody come to us with 8 centimetres of fat at the love handle which is sort of that one when you grab it which is an awful awful lot and that can go from 8 centimetres in 6 weeks, if somebody's disciplined, down to maybe 2 ½ centimetres and if that happens, you know, that sort of radical change in somebody's appearance and body and mindset, that's the most amazing experience. And it's well within somebody's hands if, that is, they're motivated. .
