Step 1: You will need

Step 2: Prepare

Fill a tub with hot water and place it by the shower. Use the soft side of a household sponge to dampen down any areas afflicted with mildew.

Step 3: Scrub

Squirt a generous amount of cream cleaner onto the abrasive side of a house hold sponge. Then get scrubbing. Jacqueline recommends a cream cleaner as it clings to the effected areas, making it easier to remove the stains. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for mildew, it's all down to elbow grease. If the mildew is very bad switch to a metal scourer, this is more abrasive so will require less scrubbing.

Squirt on more cream cleaner and keep scrubbing until the mildew starts to lift.

Use an old toothbrush for the hard to reach areas. Again squirt on the cream cleaner and get scrubbing.

Step 4: Rinse

Once the mildew has started to lift wipe down with a cloth. If the area still looks heavily stained scrub again. Keep going until you are happy with the result.

re@some of the other comments...its right isn't it bleach or most quick fix products are not very good for yourself or for the enviornment, or for any of us as it ends up in our water supply, many even say that 'harm aquatic life'. microfibre 'magic eraser' blocks (blocks rather than cloths) can work well to with no scratching...sometimes...i will try this trick too, especially as i have had difficulty with getting the blocks into corner etc/ .i saw another way on tv too, but cannot remember exactly what they used.

mildrew should be killed (yes it is a living organism) and this is best done with a fungicide, available from DIY stores. It is often used for washing down outside paintwork prior to re painting. Simply spray or brush on then the mildrew will wash off quite easily. No elbow grease required.

I'm afraid that no amount of scrubbing is going to improve that particular shower cubicle. It needs replacing!

Uhm... Tilex removes mildew in a few minutes with almost no work... what the heck are you people thinking? Just spray, wait a minute and rinse... Done. This is a no brainer. Get familiar with Tilex, save yourself a @$$ load of time and pain.

applying a wet towel with blech does well. applying it to the corners where the mildew is . Check every 15-20 minutes. If you are satistfied with results go on to the next area where the next section of mildew area, do the same thing as before and rince well.Using backing soda will sweeten the room from the bleach smell. it works for me.

I would give up if I had to tackle a shower cubicle with that amount of mildew! However, I have tried several methods and the only one that works for me is by the application of neat concentrated liquid bleach. I apply it with a fine brush direct to the area, and just leave it for 4/5 hours before rinsing it off. Then do it again and possibly a fourth time. Eventually, it does the trick. It's particularly effective on tile grout mildew which wasn't tackled in the video. Normal health protection (hands and eyes) safeguards must be made and ventilation afforded to the cubicle.
