How To Get Rid Of Nits
Lots of kids get nits and there are plenty of myths about how you get them and how to get rid of them. So VideoJug is here to clarify these myths and present a guide about how to really get rid of head lice.
Step 1: What are head lice?
Head lice are small insects that live in the hair and scalp of humans. They feed on the blood of humans. The louse is the insect that lives in the hair whilst the nit is the egg that attaches itself to the hair shaft.
Step 2: How is head lice spread?
Contrary to popular belief, head lice is not spread by the louse jumping from one head of hair to the other. Head lice are unable to jump! The lice are usually spread when the hair comes into close contact with another head of hair.
It may take up to 3 months for the symptoms of head lice to become noticeable and sometimes there are no symptoms at all. If you do suffer from them all that is likely to happen is your scalp will become itchy and irritated.
Step 3: Checking for head lice
The best way to prevent an infestation of head lice is to check hair on a regular basis especially if you have children of school age, who are most likely to suffer from nits.
Step 4: Treating head lice
Head lice can be treated with specially medicated shampoo. Use this on the hair once it has been found that the hair has an infestation of lice, not just nits. You then need to wash the hair with the medicated shampoo exactly seven days after the first treatment.
Tips & Comments
ive gone through this in the past and a good way is this electrical comb that zaps the lice and as your combing your hair it gets stuck in the comb and it comes with a brush to brush it out into the sink or toilet. dont let it go near ur child's ear though because it is sensitive. also another suggestion is run vinager through your child's head over a sink but make sure it doesent get in their eyes. its helped me when i was eight years old.
my doughter has lice and eventually I got them too. I have tried everything but can't get red rid of them. I am getting so tired and angry what can I do to solve that problem?

I have 6 children & was voted president of our Residential committee in our Apartment complex. It housed over 80 families, we all had children. There was a 'bout of head lice so bad the local school sent home notes to EVERYONE. So i studied on the internet & found out about over the counter home remedies, Tea Tree oil is the only thing that worked, we put a capful in our shampoo & a capful in the hair conditioner bottle & still do to keep them away, but to get them out of the children's hair we saturated the hair with a mixture of a 1/2 cup of Olive oil & two tablespoons of tea tree oilcombed in in let it sit over night with a shower cap on their head then washed it out in the morning with the tea tree oiled shampoo. Then we combed out the strands of hair with a nit comb in 1/2 inch sections to remove by hand every last nit. Keeping the Tea tree oil shampoo & useing it on the children after that treatment has kept the lice away. Dont forget to wash the bedding, the brushes & combs, any stuffed animal type toys the child sleeps with & any hats or hair bows. A dash of tea tree oil on the head might repel them but I wanted them DEAD & GONE.
my daughter has headlice with the past six months I've tried every chemical on the market and she still has them I wonder is there any truth in that you can burn them off with a hair straightner
I heard a dash of Tea Tree oil on the head repels head lice
