How to protect your garden from pests: People who are into gardening are troubled by the bugs which feed and destroy their crops. This video gives tips on how to safeguard your garden against these pests by using bio-friendly methods, thereby making your garden the envy of your neighbors.

We are familiar with slugs and snails, gardeners hate them for the damage they cause to the crops and vegetables planted in the garden. Most damage occurs during warm wet weather. How to control them? This hand collection, we can go out at night armed with a torch and physically pick up any snail or slugs we see around our valuable plants.
This slug pellets, they normally consist of methyl dehyde or carbon mate which sprinkled around the crops. The slugs eat them, the snows eat them and they die. You have to be careful about pits with slug pellets, especially dokes with methyl dehyde and carbon mates with cats.
If we have young children and pets, probably the safest option is to use an iron phospate pellet which is least toxic for wild life, animals and humans. Biocontrol, which we can use or buy from garden centres, is a product which is nematode worms. They are very small ill worms, I myself, buys them, mixes with water and sprinkles them around the plants.
The worms hatch and attach themselves to slugs and snails. This causes the slug or the snail to inhibit its feeding within a few days after being attacked by these nematode worms. And in a few days more, possibly a week that the animal moved on, the slugs and the snails will die.
So nematodes are very useful form of biocontrol. Wells come in use, beer traps. Take a beaker, insert into the soil with one centimeter above the soil surface.
We don't have it leveled because then we are going to catch some of the friendly bugs like spiders and beetles which we don't want to do. So one centimeter above the ground, half fill it with beer, snugs and snails will be attracted to the beer, fall in and die. And then we need to top it up with beer every few days to half full.
