If there is something crawling around your house that is guaranteed to strike fear into most ladies, it's the humble spider. Now, in the pest control industry, they are a competitor of ours because they eat the flies and the flies are a pest control problem. However, the spiders can't often be dealt with satisfactorily by a pest control company.

As much as we'd like to take millions of pounds from houses around the country, there's not a lot that we can do. The spiders walk on the ends of their feet and their bodies don't come into contact with any of the residual insecticides. If you do start getting spiders in your house and it's normally around autumn time, then Hoover them up straight away.

You can't stop them coming in, there is very little that anybody can do to a house to make it totally spider-proof. Once you see them, Hoover them, change your dustbin bags regularly. Look upon spiders more in the fact that they're taking care of the nasty flies which do spread disease, rather than being nasty in themselves.

If however, you are really scared of spiders (don't want to touch them, don't want to go near them) then, an insecticidal spray, sprayed directly onto the spider, will kill it and then you can Hoover it up and take care of it. But actually, spiders should be viewed as our friends, rather than our enemies. They may have long legs, they may not be nice to look at, but they are taking care of the nasty flies.
