Step 2: Clean up
Clear all party debris - bottles, cans, ashtrays etc. Make sure you remove everything checking in plant pots, window sills and even under the furniture for stray butts etc. You need to get rid of all evidence.
Open all the windows and even the door to give the place a good airing.
After airing the room leave a few saucers of white vinegar around the room next to curtains and furniture. This will do a good job of neutralizing the odours. Backing soda and charcoal have a similar effect. NB Don't use commercial air fresheners they don't get rid of the smell they just temporarily mask it.
To remove the smell from carpets, fabric and upholstery, sprinkle it with backing soda, leave for a few hours then vacuum it off. You can also use upholstery shampoo but be careful not to get the furniture too wet.
