How To Get The Retro Bollywood Look

How To Get The Retro Bollywood Look

Learn how to re-create the dramatic and fun makeup look from the classic Bollywood era. Eyeliner, glitter and gloss at the ready….GO!

Step 1: Base

Put on your foundation and powder and usual. Apply a heavy layer of loose translucent powder under the eyes, this will catch any falling eye shadow and can be swept away without ruining your foundation. Make sure you have applied your foundation to the eyelids.

Step 2: Eyes

Cover the whole eyelid with a nude shade of eye shadow, this is to prepare the eyelid for colour; keeping the colours intense and in place for longer. Apply a blue shadow over the lower eyelid, then use a blending brush to soften the top line.

Paint a green blue liquid sparkle eyeliner along the lash line, but keeping it to the inner edge. Switch eyeliner to a darker blue colour and continue the line to the edge of the eye. Now flick the line out beyond the eye for a dramatic touch.

Highlight the brow bone with a shimmer light coloured eye shadow.

Fill in the eyebrows with a dark-brown eyebrow powder. Add a slick of eyebrow gel to keep them in place. Now you are safe to wipe away the loose powder under the eyes.

Apply a generous coat black mascara from root to tip, use a zig zag motion as you pull the wand through to separate the eye lashes.

Step 3: Lower eyelashes

Using an angled brush apply a little blue eye shadow underneath the lower lashes.

Using the same colour you used on the eyelid, place a little bit of eye shadow on the very inner corners of the eye. Comb mascara through the lower eyelashes. Lastly line the inner rim of the eyes with black kohl pencil.

Step 4: Blusher

Contour the cheek bones by applying a pink blusher just below the apples then out along the bone. Then highlight the top with a little silver dust. This will give a sharper, more defined look to your cheeks..

Step 5: Lips

Use your finger tips to apply a little foundation onto the lips. This gives an even base and keeps your lip stick on for longer. Line the lips with a soft pink lip liner. Use a brush to apply a pink lipstick over the lips. To this add a little bit of lip gloss. And that's how you do the retro Bollywood look.
