How To Give Voice Lessons

How to give voice lessons, well, every teacher has got their own methods. When I teach one-to-one, so when I get a new pupil come in, it's very important to put the pupil at ease because they're usually nervous. The first thing I do is take them around the piano and test their range to see how high and how low they can go.

The second thing I check is the breathing. It's very important to get the right breathing technique and it's very simple. If you put your hands on your waist and breathe from below your belly button and fill all your back end which opens your rib cage, that gives you the right stance ready to start your note.

So, it would be something like this. So, you've got total control. Obviously, do this exercise standing up as you can get more air into your lungs.

Then the third step is putting the breathing and the singing together and I do this by making my pupils do scales. I'll demonstrate one of my scales. That's how I personally teach my pupils, but don't copy me, invent your own scales.

And practice, the important thing again is practice, practice, practice. .
