How To Grind On A Skateboard: In this video, sponsored skateboarder Bryce Campbell demonstrates how to grind on a skateboard, showing the steps necessary to complete this popular skateboarding trick.
Hello, I'm Bryce Campbell, a sponsored skateboarder skating for about ten years, and I'm going to show you guys how to grind on a skateboard, which is quite a generic term for tricks that involve contact with either one of the trucks or both. Loads of different tricks come from it. Once the trucks are touching anything its considered a grind.
With a bit of movement, you can definitely hear it. So if we look at a couple of ways that it can be grinding when the trucks are making contact with the coping of this ramp, that is a grind. Now it can be that way, it could be that way, that way, all of these are different types of grinds, which is great because that's where the diversity of skateboarding comes from.
The creativeness is that you can make up your own lines, you can come in and out of them in different types of ways. It's loads of fun, takes a lot of skill and precision to do it. The easiest probably being fifty fifty, which I can show you on the ramp here.
There's a few ways of doing them. You can do it on a ramp by turning into it and grinding, or you can Ollie into it which is another way of getting into it, and you would need to if there wasn't a ramp leading up to the grind. We look it up, the motion behind it is rolling up, as you come up, lifting the back, coming up pushing pressure on the back, turning the front, the truck will lock in, and as the truck locks in resting pressure on there allowing it to move forward, pressure again on the back and rolling in.
Pressure on the back, both feet on, and then dropping back in. Look at it again, coming up, grinding, back down. And that is how you grind on a skateboard.
