Do you need to hammer in a nail, but are worried you might damage a surrounding wall or skirting board? In this step by step guide you will learn how to use a simple tennis ball to hammer safely without damaging anything.

Step 1: Cut the tennis ball

Take the tennis ball and cut a small slash carefully in it using scissors.

Step 2: Modify your hammer

Now slide your hammer-head into the gap so that it is right the way on, and your ready to carry on with that DIY, safe in the knowledge that the rubbery interior of the tennis ball will protect your ornament or furniture!
