Step 1:

Cut the tennis ball

Take the tennis ball and cut a small slash carefully in it using scissors.

Step 2:

Modify your hammer

Now slide your hammer-head into the gap so that it is right the way on, and your ready to carry on with that DIY, safe in the knowledge that the rubbery interior of the tennis ball will protect your ornament or furniture!

A waste of a good tennis ball! Buy him a rubber hammer for Christmas and then he won't be able to do to much harm around the house. You just have to protect the wall with a thin piece of plywood and then whack the nail in!

never seen something so stupid! If you are too dumb to use a hammer..you'll never make it to this web page...you're still having problems getting your velcro shoes on..

I dont think that makes it any safer, probably more dangerous because the face of the hammer should hit directly with the nail or object you are striking Though if you turned the ball round and put it over the end it wouldn't scuff the wall when striking.
