Harvest Blackberries. Tom Cole from the Capel Manor College shows us how to harvest blackberries. The hard work is rewarded when you get to taste these delightful and fruity blackberries.
Blackberries are ready to harvest from mid to late summer. Wait until the fruit is plump and deep purple, not red or green. Grip gently between your fingers and thumbs and twist off. They should fall away from the stalk easily, leaving the hull behind, if they don't - they are not quite ripe yet.
If you see any bad or discoloured berries pick them off and discard. Leaving them on the plant will lead to disease
