How To Harvest Red Currants And White Currants

Tom Cole from the Capel Manor College shows us the best time of year, and correct way to harvest red currants and white currants. The hard work is rewarded when you get to taste these delightful and fruity red and white currants.

You Will Need

  • 1 container to carry the berries in
Red currants and white currants can be harvested from early to mid summer. Look for an even rich colour and plump form. Remove from the plant by snapping the stalk at the top of the sprig, rather than picking individual berries.
If you see any bad or discoloured berries pick them off and discard. Leaving them on the plant will lead to disease
