Wondering how to impress a casting agent to get your first modelling assignment? Here is an exclusive video that helps you understand just that and assures you of great results.
Hi, my name is Renee Barca and I work at IMM Model Agency. I am going to speak to you about how the modelling industry works. I am going to explain to you about how to impress a casting agent.
The first thing to remember when you are seeing a casting agent is they see so many people a day. Therefore, the best advice that I can give you is to do something that would make you stand out from the crowd. Usually, this comes down to personality.
I have always said this to my models that sometimes the reason why I book them on a job is based on their personality. You can look the right part but if you haven't got personality, people are going to see passed you. Also, not going in with a rude diva attitude is another way to impress a casting agent.
A casting agent is seeing a quite a few different people, people who all look very similar to you because they are all going for the same job. Therefore, you need to have that bang and poses that stands out. You should also have with you a model card.
As I mentioned earlier, the casting agent sees so many people a day. You need something to leave behind so that they can remember you by. A model card is basically that.
Usually, your agency would give you a model card when you join them. And all it is, is just the picture of you, your name, your stats, your contact number to contact you after the casting is completed. If you don't have to leave this behind, how is the casting agent going to remember you.
Therefore, you need to have this with you. Another thing to take along with you is your model book. A model book is just your portfolio which is all your pictures of the things that you have done in the past.
They need to see what you look like on camera because obviously, the way you look in person can differ from how you look in photos. Somebody could be very photogenic versus somebody who is not photogenic. As I mentioned earlier, you need to have a very good personality.
The casting agent has been there all day and they are quite bored of seeing the same people, doing the same thing. So just be friendly and nice. I usually said to people don't be too over the top.
Because that is obviously going to irritate people but just a nice level of friendliness is great. Usually, asking the casting agency how they have been going and what sort of stuff they are looking for would also help you being remembered in the casting agent's eye. Also, the casting agent would pick somebody based on a particular look.
So obviously, if you don't look like the part that they are going for, it is probably no reason for you to be there. This is the best way to impress a casting agent. .
