Step 1: Decorate the plate better.
Now I’m going to show you something how to decorate a plate to be better. Because some people they find potatoes just too boring looking the way they look. So I’m just going to show you how to decorate to make it more fancy. Something that may look a bit more elegant on a plate.
Step 2: Use the corer.
If you get a corer, this is from any shop, you can buy it from anywhere around, chain stores, food stores. It is just an apple corer. You get a potato; slice one of the ends away so you’ve got a flat side to it, a flat surface. Get the corer and keep going in, through. As you’re going in just keep twisting it so you can go in the potato quite easy.
Step 3: Mushroom shaped potato.
Turn it around on which ever hand you cut, in this case I’m left handed so it may be the other side. Put the knife through, when you get to the corer slowly keep spinning it around. As you spin it around it should go through both sides all the way. With your thumb you push it through slowly and you should come out with this mushroom shaped potato.
Step 4: Paprika works well.
When I have time, when I’m not to busy I just take the bits and pieces, on the top, pull the skin off just to create a bit more colors through it. Get some paprika and you can always stick it in paprika. So when you fry it you’re actually left with colors on the mushroom.
Step 5: Parboil and decorate.
In this case I usually parboil it a few minutes, blanch it. Then afterwards we’ll just season it with a little bit of salt and pepper. I usually put some garlic and parsley and fry it in a pan or stick it in the oven the same time the steak gets cooked; they should be ready to eat as well. Simple, but nice.
