How To Increase Flexibility
This video shows you an easy exercise that will help increase your flexibility. Flexibility plays a key role in our everyday activities, so why not give the exercise in this video a go and increase your flexibility today!
I'm going to teach you how to increase your flexibility. This is using a method called PNF stretching, proprio neural facilitation stretching. Make sure your bottom's right down into the floor.
Stretch your leg away from you very low. Flex the foot, and then lift the leg towards you but not so far that you lift your bottom off the floor. Sit your bottom down, opening the front of your hip here, trying to relax as much as possible.
Then, walk your hands up the band, bringing your elbows down towards the floor, so the band is really stretched. You pull towards you with your hands and you push in the opposite direction with your leg, and you hold it. Try to breathe as you hold it and wait for about ten seconds.
Then, release your elbows and ease your leg towards you further. Place your elbows back down to the floor, tug of war again. The leg doesn't move; it stays in its same hamstring stretch position.
Bottom stays down, the hands are pulling the band towards you, and the leg is pushing away from you. After ten seconds, the elbows come up and you'll find you can ease the leg a few more millimeters towards you. Then, one more time, tug of war for ten seconds, and release the elbows and ease the leg towards you a little bit more, thus increasing your flexibility.
That's a quick exercise to help you increase your flexibility. Now, look at another film, How to Improve Your Flexibility. .
