When a singer goes on tour or has a show, they need to be able to sing for more than an hour at a time. To do this, it is important to have singing endurance. In this video, a professional singing teacher shows you how to increase your singing endurance.
How to increase singing endurance. I've trained a lot of people that are about to go on tour and have to use their voice every night for like an hour-long show. And one of the best methods I've found is placement singing, which is singing from the roof of your mouth and using your body with your diaphragm because the throat muscles are so small that we need to give them a bigger placement and this gives longevity of hours and hours of singing without your vocal chords getting tired.
To practice this method, I like to give my pupils, obviously, lots of scales using the placements. Arpeggios are very good, so I do something like, which is, so you're giving your throat total rest. Before, say you were to go on tour or perform, you'd be rehearsing.
Whatever you do, don't over-sing in the rehearsals because the musicians turn up and you start turning up and a lot of people I know have lost their voices in the rehearsals before they even get to the shows. So, sing quietly in rehearsals. And it's very important to look after your singing voice by not talking too loud in nightclubs because that's the first place to lose it.
