Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft Windows and its features are wonderful. Please join us in understanding the tips and tricks of installing Windows 7 on a computer.
I am here today just to show you a couple of cool little tips and tricks on Widows 7 and Office 2010. How to install Windows 7? We are going to be installing Windows 7 using a CD. Now, there are a couple of ways you can install Windows 7.
The method I have chosen is to actually boot from a removable media which is a CD. You could install Windows 7 using a USB memory stick, using a network drive, there are many different options. But the most common way is, I go into a store, buy Windows 7 on disc, walk out with the disc, go to my computer back home and I am going to do my installation now.
Just a little note here - this installation is a clean install. So what we are going to do is – we are going to be installing Windows 7 and then replacing and wiping anything on a particular computer and this particular laptop right here. So, one of the first things you want to do after you put the CD in, you start the computer up, you restart it, you want to go into your boot options.
Now, this may mean you press something like F9. For HP, its F9 mostly. Certain manufacturers have it as F11.
This takes you straight into boot options and allows you to choose where your computer should start from. Normally a computer starts from the hard drive. I am going to say Upgrade Bay' which in this case is my CD drive or my removable media drive.
Immediately you'll notice it will read from the disc. Press any key, press any key. It then boots from the DVD.
A windows 7 ships on a DVD and depending your retail product, you know you get Ultimate', you get Professional', you get Home Premium', you also get Enterprise' if you are in the Enterprise group and what its essentially doing now is just loading some files. As you can see, we are just completing loading files now. Basically just copying all the files and ensuring that everything is ok there.
So it's loaded all the files, copied everything on. Windows will start up. You will see that lovely Windows 7 starting logo and installing Windows has really become a breeze over the last couple of years.
Pretty much anyone can do it now. The first prompt when you get Windows 7 will be to choose your time and currency format. Now, of course we are going to select English, United Kingdom'.
Keyboard – English United Kingdom'. If you don't do this, and you are in the United Kingdom, your apostrophe becomes the X sign and you have to go shift and 2 for @' and this adds to all sorts of confusion. So be sure to select the correct keyboard input method over here and hit Next'.
That's it, all we need to do now is pretty much click Install'. Now before you had to hold the installation by its hand and sort of go Ok', Next', Next' Next', Next'. These days, it asks you what region you are in, what keyboard layout is, setup will start now.
And so now all we need to do now is I accept'. Next, you have the option to Upgrade' or to Install a clean installation'. Now when you are doing an upgrade you have to remember that you need to be upgrading only from Vista' or between Windows versions.
I am going to do a Clean custom installation' which means I am going to wipe the hard disc and put a brand new copy of Windows over this. So, what I could do is I have got, you know my discs over here. So I could go ok on the Primary disc.
I can say beat on the Next' and then install. But what you probably got to do, if you got a drive options here, you can actually delete the disc, delete that disc too. There's really just one hard disc out here.
So I have deleted whatever was on this disc before. Now I can just go next and allow Windows 7 to install into that blank space automatically. That's it.
That's all the information we need right now as you can seen on the screen. It's going to copy files, expand and start installing. It may reboot your computer once or twice while doing this.
This process should take about 15 twenty minutes, sometimes half an hour depending upon y
