How To Jerk Dance Step By Step
Many youngsters nowadays do a lot of jerk dancing which seems to be quite easy once you learn the moves step by step and, of course, groove to the music.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to jerk dance step by step. Now, jerk dancing is a combination of footwork with a feeling for the music. So, when you stick the music on for this and you're trying it at home, make sure that you get into the groove with the song as well.
So, there are three main jerk moves that you can do. There are others but we're going to do the main three today and they are jerking, rejecting and dipping. So, jerking is all about, it's not actually jerking your body, it's always just bouncing with your knees.
Okay, I'm just pushing out and just grooving with the music. So, my knees are just going in and out, keeping your back slightly bent over and you can move side to side, you can move your feet just letting your body bounce with the song while the arms are just going wherever they want to go. So, a simple combination would be just scoop up your leg, do a jerk in the middle, jerk to the side and you'll get lower.
Jerk middle, side, middle, side. So, you put it altogether. The second movement is the reject, it's my favorite.
It's the backward shuffle. So if we break this down, we're going to start with our left foot. So we're going to hop forward onto your left, taking the weight and then you're going to rock back so you're changing the weight and then you need to keep your left foot behind you, keeping it off the floor and hopping forward on your right.
So if I show you that from the side, your left leg up, you're kicking it backwards and hopping forward on the right at the same time. So, we're there and then you just repeat. So, you swap the weight and then you're kicking your right foot back, hopping forward on the left and the same again, back, swap, back, swap, back, swap.
Once you've got the hang of it, try to lean your body backwards as well. So if I show you from the side, rather than leaning forward, back, forward, back, try and keep your upper body backwards and then when you do it fast, it looks like you're running backwards. And the last move is a dip.
Now, the dip is two different ways. Some people go all the way down to the floor, some people don't. I prefer the small one.
Now, the small dip basically, you drop in with two steps and then come up with two steps and it's just about grooving to the music so it could be down, up, you could turn it round, right, left, right, left. And you can use your knees if you want to. So, you're dipping as you go down.
So, how to jerk dance step by step - you've got the jerk itself which is all with the knees grooving with the music. Second move is the reject, the backward shuffle. Don't forget when you got it, try to keep your body backwards.
And the third step is the dip and you can get down to the floor but I think it looks cooler if you do the small one, you're just bending your knees going down and up slightly. And that's how to jerk dance step by step. .
