How To Jump Start A Car

Step 1: Check For Power In The Battery

Make sure it's the battery that's died.

Step 2: Check Your Type Of Battery

Find out what sort of battery you have. This is a low maintenance battery, and this one is maintenance-free.

Step 3: Add Water

Top of your battery with distilled water.

Step 4: Check Cables And Terminals

Clean and tighten cables and terminals.

Step 5: Obtain Jump Leads

Go and get your jump leads.

Step 6: Find Some Help

Find a car with a charged battery.

Step 7: Connect The Jump Leads To The Flat Battery

Connect jump leads to flat battery. Red to positive and black to negative.

Step 8: Connect The Jump Leads To The Good Battery

Connect jump leads to good battery.

Step 9: Start The Engine

Start engine of car with good battery.

Step 10: Start The Other Engine

After five minutes, start car with flat battery.

Step 11: Remove The Leads

Wait five minutes before taking the leads off.
