How To Keep Weight Off
Kyle Newman give tips on helping you to keep off the weight you lost through using your mind and mindset besides exercise and diet.
Today, I'm talking about how to keep weight off. So, for this video, I'm going to assume you've already lost the weight that you wanted to lose and you're now in a position looking to maintain your body as it is now. So, the most important piece of this is about your kind of mentality and your mind-set.
It's about adopting a long term healthy lifestyle, healthy eating plan approach. It's about making sure you've dealt with or worked on the psychological or emotional issues that caused you to overeat and gain weight in the first place. In my experience, this is the primary element that causes people to gain weight again.
It's all about what's going on, what causes you to eat in the first place. That's the bit you really need to work on, focus on, more than anything else if you want to keep the weight off. Obviously, there's some nutritional and exercise components as well.
To keep it off, you want to make sure your carbohydrate element of your diet is no more than a third of your total calorie intake and that, essentially, you're getting those carbohydrates calories from nutritious, low glycemic index carbohydrate foods like fruits and vegetables. Keep your fruits limited, maybe not more than two portions a day, that's quite high in sugar and make sure you're keeping off those processed foods, those simple carbohydrates. That's what caused the problem in the first place, so make sure you're keeping those out and you get that balanced, what we call that insulin balanced diet, about a third, a third, a third and then exercise regularly.
You want to make sure you got that muscle mass nice and strong and you're maintaining your muscle mass to keep the weight off. Muscle burns three times as many calories as fat, so the more muscle you have in the body, the more calories your body will burn naturally every day and the less likely you are to have excess calories that will get stored as fat. And make sure you're doing some cardiovascular exercise to keep healthy, balancing out with interval training, some high intensity work with rests as well as some moderate, steady exercise.
And also make sure your exercise regimen is something you can enjoy, so it's not like a chore that you have to make yourself or force yourself to go and do but that it's actually something that you can kind of incorporate as part of your lifestyle and you enjoy something to get out of the house and do as an activity instead of rather having to exercise.
