How To Knit An Angora Baby Hat Part One
Patti Moreno shows you how to knit a baby hat in the 2x2 Ribbed pattern.
Step 1: Knit An Angora Baby Hat:
I have made a little swatch here and I just love it. It is just giving me different texture, thick and fluffy there and thinner there. It is just going to look beautiful.
Step 2: Check your gauge:
I have checked my gauge I am using size 11 needles here and I’m using the bamboo needle, they are 16 inches long. And these are the types of circular needle that you want to use to make hats. You want to get the 16-inch circular needles.
Step 3: Bamboo works well:
And I like using bamboo. Bamboo works really well. It is lightweight and when you are using angora, it is a little bit slippery. So if you are using the metal needles it is a little bit harder because it is very slippery. That is why I like using the bamboo.
Step 4: Hat dimensions.
So I am going to cast on the 60 stitches and then I am going to begin joining them in the round and I am going to make sure that I am not twisting it.
We do not want to make that mistake and you will realize you are not going to be able to use it as a hat. So I am going to join it in a round and when I join it in a round, I am going to work in the rib patterns. So I am going to knit to and purl to.
I am going to knit to and purl to for the entire hat, every round. And I am going to do that until the hat is 8 inches long. And then, I am going to start decreasing and finishing the hat.
Step 5: Kniting.
Now, I want to make it 8 inches long because I am going to have it fold over. So, the hat is going to be fold over, so you want to make sure that it is long enough to be able to do that and have a nice rim to it.
All right, I am at 60 and I am going to start joining them in the round and I want to make sure that I don’t twist it and I am going to start off with knit two.
So I am going to continue this for 8 inches then, it is going to be time for me to start decreasing the hat and binding it off.
