Mailinator - you are right it! It was a homosexual propaganda technique - but taken on by homosexuals to remove the negative connotation that had been attached to it. As for removing the sexual part of it - does everybody who sleeps with the opposite gender only call themselves heterosexual in everyday life - in the UK it is 'straight' not heterosexual that is used when talking about defining a persons sexuality.
