Hi, my name is Sunita Passi, and I am from a company called Tri-Dosha, we are specialists in training in Ayurvedic Therapy and also Meditation, and we supply products and treatment to some luxury spas around the world. There are many ways to meditate and I am here today to talk to you about the few of the different meditation techniques you can bring into your life in order to feel happier and healthier. I am here to tell you about how to learn to meditate.
With the hectic pace and stresses of modern life, many people start to feel overworked, overanxious and overtired. This can lead to many people feeling quite unhappy on a day to day basis. Meditation is a process of actually quietening the mind, it is a form of contemplation, and it is some thing that has to be done on a regular basis, to actually fight these feelings of anxiety, or stress related problems.
If you want to learn how to meditate, there are a number of different approaches you can actually take. The first one is to seek out a professional practitioner. A professional practitioner would probably offer a short workshop initially to explain the benefits of learning to meditate.
These workshops tend to last one to two or two and a half hours, are generally free of charge. If you hear, you will like and you may then want to go on a longer program where you actually learn a technique in a controlled environment that allows you to pull on this technique, whenever you require it. There are many different types of techniques you can learn, and it is important for you to find the technique that is most appropriate for you.
It is not good learning a technique which doesn't work for you, because that will be something that doesn't resonate with you. So it is really important to find something that makes you feel right, that makes you feel relaxed and that you feel that you can bring something to your life on a daily basis. Other ways of learning how to meditate, you can also get a book, and there are simple steps that the book would teach you, but it is really often good to see these processes and procedures brought to life.
And then very simply, I am going to give you a few steps you can try at home. If you want to learn to meditate, the first thing you have to do is to find a nice, quiet room, where your attention is not going to be taken away, so you want all your attention coming to actually inside, so the energy would be flowing inside you and not flowing out of you. It is a good idea to having dim lighting in this room and you need to be seated in a really comfortable way, so, either on a nice comfortable chair, or a big bean bag, or even lying down.
You can also wear an eye pillow if you want to dim out the light further and this will allow all of your senses around you to stop or to be switched off. When you find yourself in that position, the easiest way to meditate by yourself is to actually follow your breath. If you simply follow your breath by closing your eyes and feeling your breath, if you can open down from your abdomen five minutes in the morning and five minutes in the evening, you definitely start to feel much more relaxed, revitalized and rejuvenated.
If with that experience, you think you want to go deeper in the meditation, then I want you to go back to step 1 and 2, and actually I feel you start to seek more professional guidance. Thank you very much. .
