How To Lie

Step 1: Starting off

To lie convincingly, start by mastering a sincere smile, show your teeth a little, crinkle up the cheeks and eyes, and spread the grin from ear-to-ear. Start off with some small lies for some practice, and try to convince yourself that the lies are in fact true to make it even more believable.

Step 2: Tricks

There are some basic lying tools you can employ where necessary. Pull some truth out of the situation to distract your victim from the fact you might be telling a lie. You can also try to tell the truth via a euphemism, so if you get caught out you haven't technically lied.

Step 3: Body Language

Body language can be a dead give away, so it is important you get it right. Don't look around, just straight in the eye. Keep your palms at your side, don't play with your hair or scratch your face. It is also important that you don't search their face for whether they believe you or not, as this can be easily spotted.

Step 4: Telling the lie

Base your lie on something real so that it is utterly convincing and has a solid base, and make sure you use the appropriate tone and expression. If possible, have more than one person telling the story.

Step 5: The follow up

Keep on top of your lie, reinforce it from time to time, and you'll be fine.
