How To Lunge A Horse
Jenny from Wimbledon Village Stables shows viewers some equipment and tools for lunging a horse. She warns that lunging should only be done by experts because it can be quite technical.
Lunging a horse should only be done by experts and people with lots of experience when it comes to horse riding. I'm going to show you the equipment we need for lunging but I'm not going to show you how to lunge because as I say, it should only be done by experts. To lunge a horse you need a lunging cavesson which goes over the top of the bridle.
Then you need a lunge rope. This attaches to the front of the cavesson. There are lots of different things you can use for lunging but one of the main tools, you can use a side reins.
These go across from the side of the horse's mouth to the lunge roller or the saddle. And these help improve the horse's straightness. Lunging helps horse's flexibility and helps with their straightness and helps with their balance and their rhythm.
But as I say, this should only be performed by experts and it can be incredibly dangerous if done in the wrong hands.
