How To Make A Bacon Sandwich

Bacon Sandwich Recipe. Gail and Jill, cooks at the award-winning Blacksmith Cafe in Hastings, are going to show us how to cook this British Classic. Whether for breakfast or as a savoury snack at any time of day, the bacon sarnie is very hard to beat. Sample our Bacon Sandwich recipe.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 2 rashers of bacon
  • 2 slices white bread
  • 25 g butter
  • tomato ketchup or brown sauce (optional)
  • vegetable oil
  • 1 small frying pan
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 bread knife
  • 1 butter knife

Step 2:

Bacon

Place the bacon in the pan and fry on a medium heat. Turn the rashers every minute or two, for at least 4 minutes. You can cook bacon to your preference. The longer you cook it, the more golden and crispy it will get.

Step 3:

Bread

Take 2 slices of bread and butter them

Step 4:

Build the sarnie

Remove the bacon rashers from the pan and place them on a slice of bread. You might, at this point, want to add either tomato ketchup or brown sauce.

Place the remaining slice on top, buttered side in. Slice the sandwich into 2 equal halves.

And serve

Not being British I can't fathom the desire to eat this. I'd have to be drunk to enjoy this mess of grease and fat. Very unhealthy. I'd toast the bread for a start and leave off the butter; extra fat NOT needed with that bacon. No ketchup thanks. Add fresh tomatoes and use wholemeal bread.

i like mine with all the fat cut off carefully, with sliced big italian tomatoes! that above looks like it would be like chewing on rubber bands!

Oh my God. That looks absolutely disgusting. I fry my bacon until it's all nice and crispy. The bacon in this video looks like a slab of fat. Ketchup and butter? WTF?! Ugh. Mayo only, please.

I would spread the sauce on the bread and GRILL the bacon

Come on this is so stupidly easy who needs a video to show how to make a bacon sandwich! just fry some bacon n slap it between a couple slices of bread!

I always add more bacon than that, fry it very crispy. The rind should left on in my opinion, but cooked until its all soft and golden. I can't stand chewy bacon in a sarnie. I prefer ketchup, but many people like brown sauce.

Much more bacon is needed, no fat or butter, cut off the bacon rind, perhaps grill the bacon instead, use freshly cut bread very lightly toasted - infinitely better.

This seems a bit of an obvious one to make, how else can you make a bacon sandwich? although i wouldnt use so much butter or oil. i cook my bacon in a george forman grill its fantastic, fat drips right away and i always cut the rind off.

Vegetable oil + butter + bacon fat = heart attacks. You can fry bacon perfectly in a non stick pan with no oil.

It needs more bacon - at least 3 rashers. It doesn't need butter at all. The bacon should fry or grill without vegetable oil
