How To Make A Beaded Christmas Tree
Jessica Rose from the London Jewellery School shows you how to make a beautiful Christmas tree which works well as a tree or home decoration and as a pendant.
You Will Need
- side cutters
- chain nose pliers
- round nose pliers
- 0.8 mm silver plated wire
- 0.4 mm silver plated wire
- selection of beads and crystals
Take a length of 0.8 mm wire, around 30 cm long. Bend the wire into the shape of the Christmas tree, starting in the middle of the wire and making the base of the tree first. If you're not happy with the shape, you can bend it back and start again. Press any sharp edges down with the round nose pliers. Make a loop at the top so you can attach it to a necklace or chain or make it into a festive tree decoration.
Take a length of the 0.4 mm wire, between 50 cm and 1 m long. Start at the top of the tree, take the end of the wire and wrap it around the top a few times to secure it in place. Flatten the end with the round nose pliers. Start adding some beads on to the thinner wire, to fill the inside of the tree. Once you have added enough beads, wrap the wire around twice and add beads on to the next section. Repeat until you have reached the bottom. Once you have filled the inside of the tree, take the end of the thinner wire and wrap it around the stalk of the tree, cut off the end and flatten any rough edges.
