How To Make A Bean Bag

Step 1: Mark

Mark out your first panel on the back of the fabric. Measuring 63cm at the bottom, two 113cm edges and a 29cm top end. You need to draw four of these, but you can use your first one as a template.

Draw a small circle with a 29cm diameter for the top, and a big circle with a 63cm diameter for the bottom. You can draw an accurate circle by tying a piece of string that is half the circles diameter to a pencil. Cut out all of the panels, cutting a comfortable 1cm outside of all the lines leaving space for the seams.

Step 2: Zip

Take the big circle, and draw a line the length of your zip right in the middle. A 50cm zip is perfect.

Pin the zip to the back of the fabric so the zipper is under the cut. Stitch the zip fabric in place, and then go back and double stitch it.

Step 3: Sew

Sew the long sides of your side panels together. Make sure the stitching is on the inside. Double stitch them all for extra strength, and you will end up with an inside-out tube.

Take your inside-out tube, and pin the top panel in place again so the fabric back faces outwards. Stitch in place, and do exactly the same with the bottom panel.
Now turn the bag right-side out by pushing it through the zip.

Step 4: Fill

So you don't make a mess you are going to need an inner bag, so do everything again but with a cheap thin material.

Insert the lining into the bag, and leave the end hanging out. Funnel in the beans until it looks comfy. Zip up the bag and your beanbag chair is complete.
