Step 2:

Orange juice

Firstly, measure out 20ml of orange juice and pour into the mixing glass.

Scotch whisky

Then add 20ml of Scotch Whisky

Sweet vermouth

Next, pour in 20ml of sweet vermouth

Cherry brandy

And finally, 20ml of cherry brandy

Ice

Now fill the mixing glass with ice

Shake

Put the other half of the cocktail shaker on. Slap it down firmly to seal. Hold the top and bottom, and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds.

HANDY HINT

When there is condensation on the outside of the shaker, and it feels very cold, then it's mixed.

Release

Tap the side of the shaker to loosen the two halves. Release the top by rocking it back and forth.

Double strain

Use the cocktail strainer over the shaker and the fine strainer over the martini glass to double strain the cocktail. As you pour, encourage the drink through the fine strainer using the handle of the cocktail strainer..

Garnish

Take an orange and slice off a piece of the rind. Squeeze this over the drink to add a little of the sharp tasting juice. Then gently drag the orange peel around the rim of the glass and drop it into the drink. Finally, add a cherry to decorate.
