How to make a blueberry smoothie. Smoothies are a great way of getting part of your fiber a day. The fact that it's all blended in together means that you're going to get all your fibers as well as all the goodness out of the fruit rather than taking any out.
For this, I'm going to make a blueberry smoothie, using blueberries - we bought organic blueberries; we bought them already frozen. You can obviously just buy regular ones from the shop, that's fine. We're going to use a banana and we're going to use, as a base, to blend all this up, we're going to use purple grape juice.
It's full of antioxidants and it's just has a really nice sort of sweet taste. You also need some ice. There's not a massive amount of fruit, obviously, that's cold in this demonstration.
You could, if you wish, a lot of people recommend freezing the banana to just make it a little bit colder, that way you don't have to add so much ice. You're going to need a jug and a blender. You can buy blenders more or less anywhere now on the High Street, the internet, or supermarkets.
So what we're going to do, we're going to put the blueberries in. Now, quantities, it's entirely up to you really. I'm going to a couple of scoops in here; it depends how many you want.
It depends whether you like the taste of fruit that much or whether you want some more grape in it. Bananas, you can put any type of banana you can, put green, put brown, bear in mind the browner the banana, the higher the sugar content it's going to have. It's going to taste a lot sweeter.
Maybe if you've got really ripe bananas, you might want to use a different base, perhaps one that's not so sweet. So, that's in there. We're going to put some of this in there.
Now, how much liquid you put in depends on much fruit so if it's a too thick add a little bit more liquid. If you find you've added too much liquid, just stick another banana or some more ice in it. So, we're going to put some ice in there now.
Now what I would say is make sure the lid is on. Most home blenders now have a catch so it won't slip off too much. This blender has a timer, maybe yours at home, one might not so you'll just have to sit there and wait.
So I'm just going to blend that now. Okay, so that's blended. If you hear any sort of noise in there, of ice knocking around, just give it another blend and that'll soon sort that out.
Okay, pour that in there. Blueberries, again, are a superfruit, full of antioxidants, very good for you, very healthy. This sort of thing, it's a great way of getting fruit you probably wouldn't want to eat, perhaps if your children are not interested in any fruit, a great way of getting some goodness in them.
And that's how you make a blueberry smoothie. .
