How To Make A Breakfast Casserole

A breakfast casserole is a great way to have all your favorite ingredients for breakfast. Our chef will show you how to make a quick and easy breakfast casserole which is sure to satisfy any early riser.

You will need

• 8 slices of egg or wheat bread , cubed
• 2 cups (500ml) milk
• 10 large eggs
• ½ kg ground sausage
• 1 ½ cups (380ml) Cheddar cheese , shredded
• salt , to taste
• pepper , to taste
• casserole dish

Step 1:

Bread Cubes

In a large, oven safe, greased casserole pan, add 8 slices of egg or wheat bread, cut into small cubes. Arrange them evenly across the bottom of the casserole pan.

Step 2:

Sauté The Sausage

Brown 1 lb (453 g) ground sausage in a large pan. Cook on medium-high heat until nicely brown and crumbled. Make sure there is no red, uncooked meat in the ground sausage.

Step 3:

Eggs And Cheese

Pour the cooked sausage over the bread cubes and evenly distribute. Add 1 1/2 cups (180 g) shredded Cheddar cheese over the sausage and bread cubes, evenly distributed. In another large bowl, crack 10 large eggs and 2 cups (500 ml) milk and whisk briskly until incorporated. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the dry ingredients in the casserole pan evenly, making sure to cover all portions.

Step 4:

Bake And Serve

Place the casserole pan into the oven at 350F (180C/Gas Mark 4) and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Remove the casserole and let sit for a few minutes. Serve hot and enjoy!
