David Littlejohn of LJ Coffehouse in London shows the technique of making a caramel latte macchiato.
The first thing you need to do is get yourself a caramel syrup. You can pick these up in most shops or from most independent coffee retailers. So, you need to add about 15 mL to the bottom of a caramel latte macchiato.
Once you've got this, you need to add steamed milk to the top of it. Steam your milk; give it a good polish so that it's nicely mixed together. I've got some that I've done here and we're going to add this into our glass.
We're going to slowly pour in this doppio onto the back of a spoon so that it runs down the side of the glass and into the coffee, or into the milk, sorry, but into the bottom. And what you should see, is you should see a line that starts separating out from the caramel latte, or caramel milk that we've got at the bottom into our doppio, our double espresso that we've got at the top with a nice clear line. If you do it slowly enough, you'll end up with that nice line running across the top and the macchiato part is the stain or mark that we got across the top.
To finish this off, we're going to take a bit of caramel sauce, just across the top there, and that is how to make a caramel latte macchiato. .
