I'm going to show you how to make a chignon. Now, as you might see, I put some back-combing in the hair before. I mean, sometimes, you have to do that because if your hair is really silky and smooth it's very difficult to pin with grip, so you just might have to back-comb it to help the pins stay in.

So, what I'm doing is I'm just brushing it to one side. Then I'm going to use some pins and just slowly push those pins up the middle of the chignon. Try to keep as much tension as possible.

And then what you can do is just cross your grips with another grip; that'll just hold it a little bit better. Once you've gripped the middle section, just spray a little bit through the sides. Once again, you can have this as messy or as clean as you want.

Taking your other side, just comb it very gently. Once you've combed it through the other side, just start to twist it. Holding your hands in the back, just twist around your fingers.

Keep twisting until you make that chignon. And, once you have the shape you like, then you start to grip through the top. There are lots of things you can do with a chignon; you can leave the hair down.

If you really want to, you can decorate it with jewelry. But, if you're just doing a simple, classic chignon, then this is probably the best technique to use. Now what you can do, once you just pin the top, is use something called a fine pin.

By using the fine pin, what you can do is simply put the pin through the hair and then push it up and this will hold the sides of the chignon. Just carry on all the way through up to the top. Once you have your shape, just to finish it off with a little bit of hair spray.

The chignon can look great on anybody especially if you're going out, or dressing up; something glamorous. There we have a simple chignon. .
