Ingredients

  • 1 lime
  • 2 oz rum
  • 1/2 sugar syrup
  • 1/2 tsp white sugar

Step 1: Prepare The Drink

Fill a martini glass with ice and leave it aside for the duration of making the cocktail. Taking the lime now, slice it up into 8 wedges, ready for muddling. Place these wedges into a Boston cocktail shaker glass. Take your muddler and muddle the wedges together, extracting the juice and flesh out of these wedges. Now add the rum, pouring it nice and slowly so that it doesn't splash back. Now it's time to add the sugar syrup, followed by the white sugar. Now, before shaking, add 3/4 cubed ice, and 1/4 of crushed ice, making sure the crushed ice completely fills the shaker's volume. Wedge a glass into the top of the shaker and shake.

Step 2: Serve The Drink

Tipping the ice now out of the martini glass, the glass now being sufficiently chilled and there being clear condensation on the sides of the glass. Take the glass out of the shaker, attach the cocktail strainer on top of the shaker, and now strain the cocktail into the martini glass. Traditionally no garnish.
