How To Make A Devil Costume
How To Make A Devil Costume
Halloween is the perfect time to let out your devilish ways. With the help of a personal stylist, this video shows you how to make a devil costume out of the pieces you already have in your wardrobe.
Step 1: Halloween Costumes
Hi, I’m Claire Wacey and I’m a personal stylist. And today, I’m going to show you how to make your own Halloween costumes. For anything that you don’t find in these videos, go to my website for more style tips on Halloween outfits.
Step 2: Devil Costume
Hi, today I’m going to talk to you about how to make a devil costume ready for your Halloween party. Now, you can buy devil costumes from the high street really quite cheaply but they fall apart and they’re not as exciting as making your own outfit. So, this is an example of what you can buy on the high street. It’s a great outfit but it doesn’t have the touch of personality and also, you could do it from what you’ve got in your own wardrobe for probably about ten minutes worth of work you give that.
Step 3: Red Dress
Grab a red dress that you have in your wardrobe if you’ve got one and that’s your starting point for your devil’s outfit. To this, I would go even more red.
Step 4: Devil Tail
Then, I would also create a little bit of a tail because you know, all devils always have little tails, and a really simple way of doing that is just taking something really simple like a red scarf and you can just tie it around the waist and tie it so that you’ve got only one long end. Tie that into a knot and that creates your tail. But if you want to be a little bit more exciting, you can also just pop a little bit of wire down the side of that and you can really create some great shapes to a tail. You can make it a little bit more exciting coming out at the back, much more exciting. If you don’t have a red dress and you don’t have the ability to kind of put those bits together, what you could do is have a really black canvas like for some, something like this little jumpsuit, it’s really simple or some leggings and a t-shirt and then, you can enhance your look and add lots of different red looks to it quite simply. So, we’ve got a scarf that we can add for a tail. But then, take some red tights and what you can do is actually create an outfit out of this. And it sounds a little bit crazy but it does work, trust me. Now, what you’re going to do is you’re going to actually position the back of the tights underneath and pin them in place where the tail is. Then, you pull these sections around and it creates almost like a bit of a 70’s style jumpsuit. So, you create that red V at the front and then you pin it to the back of the jumpsuit where your tail’s going to be positioned. So, I’m going to have to undo this tail, I’ll use this belt instead. Where your tail would be on the back would also create your waistband as well, so you have almost like a 70’s inspired devil’s costume. So, that’s going to come in the waist. It’s going to come in at the waist, this is going to go underneath, and that goes underneath so you could wear it almost like a jumpsuit.
Step 5: Devil Makeup
Then, what I would suggest to do is really go red on your makeup. So, use face paint to create that red feeling, so you could do red eye makeup, you can create red eyelashes, really red up your face and give yourself as much color and as much wickedness as possible.
Step 6: Accessories
I would add a red waist belt just to cinch you in to make you a little bit more exciting. Then I would add a pair of red, killer red tights. It doesn’t matter if the reds clash, it’s absolutely fine. So, the important thing is to make sure the whole of your body is pretty much red. If you have a red t-shirt, layer that underneath as well. But if you have not, what I would suggest to do is to make it a little more vampy. Turn a fishnet stocking into a fab glove. You can do this quite easily just by putting your fingers through the holes really simply. So, you just turn this into a glove. I’m saying it’s simple but my fingers get stuck, and then that can go all the way up to you
