How To Make A Fabric Flower Bouquet

In this episode of Maid At Home, Hannah Read-Baldrey shows you how to make your own fabric flower wedding bouquet. It may not smell as good but it will last forever!

You will need:

  • Glue gun
  • A selection of 1 metre pieces of plain cotton fabric
  • Iron
  • Gardening wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Elastic bands
  • Pliers
  • A selection of light and dark green felt
  • Gaffer tape
  • Green fabric ribbon

Instructions

  • Cut your plain pink fabric into a strip measuring 12cm by 70cm
  • Iron it out flat, then fold in half along the length and iron flat again
  • Roll the fabric up, gathering it up a little as you go to make a flower shape
  • Secure fabric with an elastic band
  • Cut your gardening wire to 35cm and feed it through the centre of the fabric flower
  • Use your pliers to turn the end of the wire round into a swirl
  • Pull the wire through the fabric flower
  • Cut the dark green felt into 10cm x 10cm squares
  • Using your glue gun, glue along the outside of the felt square and wrap it around the fabric flower
  • Repeat this for all your roses, around 14 in total
  • Bunch the flowers together, starting with the larger roses in the centre
  • Once all the flowers are gathered together, twist the wires together and bend them in half to create a handle
  • Bind them together with gaffer tape
  • Using a large piece of light green felt, cover the handle by wrapping the felt around the bouquet
  • Fold the corners of the felt back to create leaves
  • Cut the green fabric ribbon to a 30cm piece and tie it round the outside into a lovely bow.
