Total Time:

Step 1: You will need

  • 1 medium lemon
  • 12 ½ ml Gin
  • some champagne
  • dash Sugar Syrup
  • some Ice cubes
  • 1 cocktail shaker
  • 1 strainer
  • 1 knife or a canal
  • 1 juicer
  • 1 champagne flute or similar glass

Step 2: Chill glass

Either put the champagne glass in the fridge, or fill it with ice, add a little water, and leave it to one side to chill.

Step 3: Lemon

Use the canal or knife to cut a twist of lemon peel as a garnish for later.

Cut the lemon in half. Use a juicer to squeeze out the lemon juice.

Step 4: Gin

Half fill the shot measure with gin.

Step 5: Lemon Juice

Fill the rest of the shot measure with lemon juice.

Step 6: Sugar syrup

Next add a dash of sugar syrup

Step 7: Ice

Top up the mixing glass with ice cubes

Step 8: Shake

Put the other half of the shaker on. Press down firmly and shake it vigorously for about 20 seconds.

When there is condensation on the outside of the shaker, and it feels cold, then it's mixed.

Step 9: Release

Tap the side of the shaker to loosen the two halves. Release the top by rocking it back and forth.

Step 10: Strain

Now put the strainer over the cocktail shaker and strain the cocktail into the chilled champagne glass.

Step 11: Champagne

Slowly fill up the glass with champagne

Step 12: Garnish

Garnish with the lemon twist, and serve.

Very interesting! The version I learned is essentially opposite in terms of the amount of gin and champagne. My take: 2 oz gin, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 oz simple syrup, topped with champagne. It's awesome!
