How To Make A Guitar Cake
In this guide, pastry chef Annabelle from Confection Perfection shows you how to make a guitar cake.
You Will Need
- pre made cakes
- sugar paste
- edible glue
- icing
- cornflour
- buttercream
- guitar shaped tin
- cutting wheel
- brush
- circle cutter
- piping bag
- piping nozzle
- rilling pin
- rolling spacers
- palette knives
- cake board
Method
After baking your cake in a guitar shaped tin, split the neck from the body to make it easier to prepare. Cut both pieces in half and fill with buttercream then cover the outside with the cream also.
To prepare your sugar paste, spread some cornflour on your work surface and knead with your hands for a few minutes until it is smooth and has a slight glossy sheen. This will make it easier to roll.
Using the rolling spacers, roll the sugar paste to a thickness of 5mm. Pick it up with your rolling pin and spread it over the cake. Repeat this for both pieces. Smooth the icing over the cake with your hands and trip with a palette knife.
Using edible glue, stick both pieces of the guitar together. Cut a strip of sugar paste for the fretboard and lay this over the top of the body and the neck. Cut a circle and a small strip and lay these onto the body of the guitar.
Make tuning pegs by rolling six small balls of sugar paste and sticking them to the top of the neck with edible glue. Pipe the strings onto the guitar using a piping bag and a 2mm nozzle and you have completed your guitar cake!
